🍍 General Expectations
Setting the Standard for High-Quality Roleplay
At HighTide RP, we're here to build a living, breathing world — and that starts with you. To keep our city immersive, engaging, and safe for everyone, all players are expected to follow these core guidelines:
-
18+ Only – This is a serious roleplay environment for mature players only.
-
Stay In Character (IC) – Once you're in the city, you're your character. Keep all interactions rooted in RP at all times.
-
Start with a Clean Slate – New arrivals know nothing of the city or its inhabitants. Build your story from the ground up.
-
Keep it Real – Your actions should align with your character’s backstory, motivations, and the world around them.
-
Story Over Shock – Progress through meaningful interaction, not chaos, trolling, or random acts of violence.
-
Use Realistic Names – No meme names, political references, or celebrity impersonations.
-
Absolutely Forbidden – Torture, suicide RP, and any form of sexual assault RP are strictly prohibited.
-
🎬 Play it Out First – If an issue arises, handle it IC as much as possible, then report it afterward.
-
No Combat Logging – Logging out during an active scene or conflict is never acceptable.
These expectations keep HighTide RP flowing smoothly — help us make it a place worth diving into.
🍍 In-Character & OOC Usage
Keep the Line Clear. Keep the Vibes Respectful.
At HighTide RP, the line between In-Character (IC) and Out-of-Character (OOC) is what makes immersive storytelling possible. Here's how to keep both sides respectful and drama-free:
-
Respect Above All – Treat every player with courtesy. Bullying, toxicity, or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
-
Avoid Sensitive Topics – Discussions involving race, gender, sexuality, politics, mental health, or suicide have no place in RP or OOC chat.
-
Stay in Character – The moment you enter the city, you're your character. Let the story flow naturally through RP.
-
Limit OOC Talk – No arguing, insulting, or casual chatting in OOC. Use it only when absolutely necessary — and keep it respectful.
By maintaining clear boundaries and showing respect on both sides of the screen, we ensure HighTide stays a safe and immersive space for everyone.
🍍 Metagaming
What Your Character Doesn’t Know… They Don’t Know.
Metagaming breaks immersion and ruins storylines. To keep the RP experience authentic and fair for everyone, follow these golden rules:
-
IC Knowledge Only – Your character can only act on what they’ve learned in character, through direct RP.
-
No Stream-Sniping – Watching someone’s stream to gain an advantage in-game is strictly prohibited.
-
No Discord Spying – Information from outside sources (like private servers or DMs) has no place in RP.
-
Keep Characters Separate – What one of your characters knows or experiences can’t be transferred to another.
HighTide RP thrives on organic storytelling — metagaming cuts corners. Keep it real, keep it fair, and let the story unfold naturally.
🍍 Powergaming
Play Fair. Play Real. Play Respectfully.
Powergaming breaks immersion and ruins the flow of realistic storytelling. At HighTide RP, we expect players to honor the limits of their characters, the mechanics of the world, and the roleplay of others.
-
No Forcing Actions – You cannot dictate another player’s reactions or outcomes. Let them respond in-character.
-
Stay Within Your Limits – Your character isn’t a superhero. Actions should reflect realistic physical and mental capabilities.
-
Keep It Human – No invincibility, no godlike stunts, no irrational decisions that break immersion.
-
Respect Game Mechanics – Don’t abuse in-game systems to gain an unfair edge.
-
No Exploits – Glitches, vehicle physics bugs, or unintended mechanics are off-limits.
-
Injuries Matter – Roleplay all injuries seriously. If you’ve been shot, stabbed, or severely hurt, show it — limping, pain, and recovery time are expected.
-
Example: If your character just had surgery, they shouldn’t be sprinting out of the hospital like nothing happened.
-
-
No Masked Voice ID – You can’t identify people solely by voice if they’re wearing a mask. Keep it realistic.
Powergaming disrupts the balance of good RP. Respect your character’s limits, respect others’ roleplay, and keep HighTide immersive for everyone.
🍍 New Life Rule (NLR)
Death Has Consequences. Respect the Reset.
The New Life Rule is in place to preserve immersion, realism, and fairness in all roleplay scenarios. When your character goes down, it's not just a game mechanic — it’s a turning point in their story.
-
Incapacitation = Injury RP Only – While downed, your character can only roleplay their injuries.
-
30 Minutes = Brain Death – If you remain incapacitated for 30 minutes without medical aid, your character is considered brain dead. You must respawn at this point.
-
Respawning = Total Reset – Upon respawning, your character loses all items and has no memory of the events leading to their death.
-
No Returning – You may not return to the scene, speak about what happened, or pass information to others.
-
EMS Revival = Memory Intact – If you're revived by EMS or through valid IC medical means, you keep your memory but cannot re-engage in conflict or return with hostility.
-
Leave It Behind – Any vehicles, items, or possessions left at the scene are considered lost — no reclaiming after death.
-
No Group Loopholes – Groups or gangs may not reintroduce a respawned player into the same RP situation. Once you're out, you're out.
Death in RP is a storytelling tool, not a setback. Treat it seriously — and let it drive new arcs forward.
🍍Vehicle Ownership & Inactivity Policy – HighTide RP
By purchasing, earning, or otherwise acquiring vehicles within HighTide RP, you agree to the following condition of ownership:
-
Inactivity Limit
-
If your account has been inactive for a continuous period of 3 months (90 days), your vehicles will be considered abandoned.
-
-
Vehicle Repossession
-
Abandoned vehicles will be reclaimed by the server and returned to the dealership/government pool.
-
Once reclaimed, vehicles are no longer refundable or restorable.
-
-
Exemptions
-
Players may request an exemption. Exemptions must be submitted in advance to server staff via Discord ticket.
-
-
Fair Play
-
This policy ensures fairness, server balance, and that the vehicle economy remains active for all players.
-
🍍 Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM) & Random Deathmatch (RDM)
Violence Needs a Story. Not Just a Trigger.
HighTide RP is a serious roleplay server — every act of violence must have purpose, buildup, and consequence. Random or unrealistic aggression disrupts immersion and will not be tolerated.
-
No Killing Without RP – All violent encounters must have clear in-character reasoning and buildup. A few angry words aren’t a valid excuse to start shooting.
-
Example: “You suck” → gunfire = RDM (Random Deathmatch).
-
-
No Weaponizing Vehicles – Using cars to intentionally run over or ram others is strictly prohibited. This includes using vehicles in place of combat (VDM).
-
Let Conflict Evolve – Violence should further a story, not end it. Think before you shoot or strike — is this true to your character’s goals, motives, and relationships?
Keep confrontations meaningful. If there's no roleplay behind your aggression, there's no place for it in HighTide.
🍍 Scene Interference
Respect the Scene. Respect the Story.
HighTide RP is about immersive, organic roleplay. Don’t force your character into situations where they don’t belong. Every action you take should serve the story, not derail it.
-
No Uninvited Guests – Don’t insert yourself into RP scenarios without an in-character reason. If your character isn’t part of the scene, stay out of it.
-
No Crashing Heists, Chases, or Shootouts – If it’s not your character’s business, don’t make it. Jumping into active crime or police situations ruins the flow and feels out of place.
-
Respect EMS & PD Scenes – Don’t interfere with medical or police roleplay unless your character has a legitimate, IC reason to be there. Help when it makes sense, not just for the chaos.
Let the story breathe, and keep your character’s involvement true to the moment.
🍍 Green Zones
Safe Spaces for Immersive Roleplay.
While we don't have formal green zones, certain areas are protected to maintain realism and ensure the flow of RP. Specifically:
-
No Hostile Actions at Key Locations – Hostilities (shootouts, attacks, etc.) are not permitted to begin at Los Santos Medical or the MRPD. These locations are meant to serve as neutral, safe spaces for players to engage in RP without interference.
Respect these spaces to keep the environment immersive and story-driven.
🍍 EMS, PD, and Crime Rules
Respect the Professionals. Play Smart.
To keep roleplay grounded and fair, there are certain guidelines when interacting with EMS, PD, and engaging in crime-related activities:
-
No Baiting or Stealing – Don’t bait cops or steal EMS/PD vehicles. These are essential to maintaining an immersive city environment.
-
EMS Are Off-Limits – You cannot rob or interfere with EMS personnel. They’re here to save lives, not serve as targets.
-
Robbing PD – You may rob PD, but only if there’s solid roleplay buildup and an IC reason for doing so.
-
No Murder Without Purpose – If you rob someone, you cannot kill them unless there’s a justified in-character reason. Similarly, if you kill someone, robbing them is off the table unless backed by solid roleplay.
-
No Random Robbing – Random robberies, including vehicle theft, are strictly prohibited. Robbing should be part of a developed storyline.
-
No Robbing Armourguard Civilians – Armourguard civilian jobs are off-limits for robbery.
-
Respect EMS in OOC – Don’t be rude or dismissive to EMS who are actively helping you. OOC abuse towards them is prohibited.
-
Engage in Medical RP – Always respond to /me actions when receiving medical attention. If you’re being treated, use /me or verbal descriptions to realistically depict your injuries and the scene. Engage actively in the treatment process.
Criminal actions should always have a purpose and contribute to the story, not disrupt or derail it. Keep it meaningful, keep it respectful.
🍍 Modding, Cheating, Exploiting
Play Fair. Play Clean.
HighTide RP thrives on a level playing field where skill and creativity define your experience. Modding, cheating, or exploiting the game mechanics undermines the integrity of the server and will not be tolerated.
-
No Mods, Hacks, or Third-Party Clients – The use of injectors, mods, hacks, or any third-party software is strictly prohibited. Violating this rule results in an immediate ban.
-
No Associating with Modders – If you’re knowingly involved with someone using mods or cheats, you may face the same consequences.
-
Exploiting Bugs or Mechanics – Taking advantage of bugs, glitches, or unintended game mechanics for personal gain will result in punishment.
-
No “Fragger” Graphics – Don’t alter your graphics or game settings to give you an unfair advantage (e.g., custom crosshairs, stretched resolution, removing shadows, etc.). Keep the game fair for everyone.
Cheating breaks the experience for everyone. Play with honor, and keep the RP alive!
🍍 Server Restarts
Respect the Downtime. Keep It Smooth.
Server restarts are essential for maintenance and performance, but they shouldn’t disrupt the flow of your roleplay. Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth transition:
-
No Crime Before or After Restarts – Do not initiate any criminal activities within 15 minutes before or 30 minutes after a server restart.
-
Wrap Up Ongoing Scenarios – All active roleplay scenarios should be concluded before the 15-minute markto avoid disruption during the restart.
Let’s keep the RP immersive and uninterrupted during these necessary pauses!
🍍 Streaming & Recording Rules
Keep the Experience Fair. Keep the RP Real.
Streaming and recording should enhance the experience, not disrupt it. To keep things fair and immersive for everyone, follow these guidelines:
-
No Stream-Sniping – Do not watch streams to gain an advantage in the game. Using information from a stream to affect your in-character actions is strictly prohibited.
-
No Chat Interference – Streamers are not allowed to use information from their chat while in the city. Keep your RP and chat separate to preserve immersion for everyone.
Respect the flow of the game and the experience of others — both on and off stream.
🍍 Leadership Disclaimer
Admins Have the Final Word.
While we uphold these rules to ensure a fair and immersive experience, the admin team reserves the right to make exceptions for special events or unique roleplay scenarios.
-
Admins Have Final Say – In any disputes or unclear situations, the admin team holds the final decision.
-
Rules Are Subject to Change – Stay updated and informed, as rules may evolve over time to improve the experience.
The goal is always to keep HighTide RP fun, fair, and engaging for everyone!
🍍 Ban Appeals
Fair Process, Fair Decision.
If you’ve been banned and believe it was a mistake, you have the right to appeal. Follow the process below:
-
📩 Create a Ticket – If banned, submit a ticket to appeal the decision. Appeals will be reviewed by staff members who were not involved in the original ban, ensuring fairness and transparency.
Stay respectful, stay in character, and let’s keep the community strong!
